Michigan
Michigan has run an IECMHC program since the 1990s. It offers three tiers of service. Promotion is statewide professional development, including the Pyramid Model and reflective communities of practice. Prevention is programmatic consultation. Child and family-focused consultation supports individual children.

The statewide program doesn't serve Head Start or Early Head Start right now.
- Geographic reach
The program offers in-person services in 42 of Michigan's 83 counties. A virtual consultation pilot started in late 2024 to fill the gaps and runs through March 2028. The state will plan how to sustain virtual services based on the pilot's evaluation.
- How to request consultation
- Main route: referral through Great Start to Quality Resource Centers.
- Self-referral: providers fill in the interest form on the program website(opens in a new tab).
- Direct contact: providers call the program to request services.
- Licensing referrals: Michigan licensing consultants can refer programs.
- Consultant outreach: consultants meet providers through MiRegistry trainings, and providers who attend can request consultation.
- Funding
Funding comes from the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), state general funds, mental health block grant dollars, and Medicaid (for child and family-focused cases that meet set criteria).
