individualized support from a TA Advisor
20+ years
of Georgetown's team supporting IECMHC programs across the country

How it works

  1. Tell us where you are
    • Complete the request form, and be as thorough as you can so we can match you with the right advisor
    • If your request is outside our scope, we'll say so and point you to other help where we can
  2. Work with your TA Advisor
    • Individualized support matched to your stage of development and your setting
    • Delivered through working sessions, educational sessions, webinars, and presentations for your team
    • Grounded in the Center's program tools: the Program Manual, the Logic Model Template, the MOU example, and the implementation frameworks
  3. Measure and sustain

What we help with

Open an area to see what the work covers and which Center of Excellence tools it draws on.

  • Program design and models

    The architecture before the hiring

Which settings to serve, the service delivery model, staffing and caseloads, workflow, and the agreements that hold it together. Draws on the Program Manual(opens in a new tab), the Program Components Framework, the Essential Elements and Essential Activities of IECMHC, and the MOU example(opens in a new tab).

  • Financing and sustainability

    Funding that survives budget cycles

Mapping the funding streams available to you, braiding them, and planning for sustainability from the start. Draws on the Financing Guidance and the Sustainability Conceptual Model.

  • Workforce and reflective supervision

Who can consult, and how you keep them

Consultant qualifications, hiring, onboarding, and the reflective supervision structures that keep consultants in the work. Draws on the national IECMHC Competencies, the Hiring Guidance, and the Reflective Supervision Guide.

  • Evaluation and data

So you can show results by year 3

Logic models, outcome measures, documentation, and evaluation design built into the program rather than added later. Draws on the Logic Model Sample, the Theory of Change, and the Status of the Evidence for IECMHC.

  • Equity

Systems that interrupt disparities rather than repeat them

Disaggregated data on discipline, referrals, and outcomes; culturally responsive practice; and partnership with families and communities. Draws on the Center's equity resource collection.

  • Integration with the Pyramid Model and other supports

Consultation that fits what you already fund

How consultation sits alongside coaching, quality improvement, and Pyramid Model implementation so the supports reinforce each other rather than compete. In 2024 we worked through this with a cohort of states, territories, and tribes.

Who it's for

Technical assistance is for the people responsible for an IECMHC program or system:

  • Program administrators and representatives

IECMHC programs at any stage of development, from planning a first program to improving one that is running.

  • State, local, territory, tribal, and national stakeholders

Agencies and organizations building or improving consultation across a system.

TA isn't for individual IECMH consultants. If you're a consultant, start with the For Consultants page or the Practical Certificate.
We don't offer direct mental health services. If you need that kind of help, contact SAMHSA's National Helpline(opens in a new tab).

Technical assistance delivered by

Questions before you request TA

  • Who is technical assistance for?

It's for IECMHC program administrators and representatives, and for state, local, territory, tribal, and national stakeholders improving their IECMHC programs. It supports programs at any stage of development.

  • I'm a consultant. Can I request TA?

TA isn't for individual IECMH consultants. If you're a consultant, start with the For Consultants page or the Practical Certificate.

  • What if our request is outside your scope?

We'll tell you and point you to other help where we can.

  • Do you provide direct mental health services?

No. Technical assistance builds capacity in a program or system. If you need direct mental health services, contact SAMHSA's National Helpline at samhsa.gov/find-treatment(opens in a new tab). It offers free, confidential treatment referral and information, 24 hours a day.

  • Can TA include training our staff to deliver consultation?

The Practical Certificate trains the consultation practice itself. Organizations enrolling 5 or more staff can email us about volume pricing. TA helps you design the program those consultants will work in.
