Holding the People Who Hold the Baby

Every baby deserves steady, responsive relationships, including babies and toddlers whose families are involved with child welfare. This free national webinar looks at what infant and early childhood mental health consultation looks like inside child welfare, and how it supports the people who hold the baby.

A baby melts down after a family visit. One reading says the visits are too disruptive. Someone who understands development reads it the other way: of course it's hard to leave the people you love. She may need more connection, not less. That reading depends on the adults around her having the time, support and lens to see it. Consultation isn't another training. It's ongoing, reflective support for caseworkers, foster and kin caregivers, home visitors and supervisors, so they stay steadier and stay in the work. We'll also share early findings from conversations with child welfare leaders across more than a dozen states. It's for caseworkers and supervisors, foster and kin caregivers, home visitors, early childhood and infant mental health professionals, child welfare leaders, and anyone who works with babies, toddlers and their families. Times: 1 to 2pm ET, 12 to 1pm CT, 11am to 12pm MT, 10 to 11am PT.
