How each role is supported

Consultants and coaches are supported in different ways. Consultants receive reflective supervision. Coaches receive ongoing training and support, and their coaching data are tracked.

IECMH consultants
Consultants receive reflective supervision. It focuses on relationships, the meaning of interactions, and the consultant's own personal and professional responses in their work with others. Some organizations call this reflective consultation. In reflective consultation, the person providing it has no supervisory role over the consultant.
Program implementation coaches
Coaches receive ongoing training and support from a supervisor and take part in a collaborative network of program implementation coaches. Data on their coaching activities are summarized to examine coaching delivery and program fidelity.
Practice-based coaches
Coaches receive ongoing training and support through a community of practice with other coaches. A lead coach, a program implementation coach, or a coaching supervisor provides it. Data from practice-based coaching are summarized to monitor coaching contacts, implementation fidelity, and outcomes for the practitioners being coached.

Where to go next

Programs get more from the Pyramid Model when an IECMH consultant is on the team. The Practical Certificate in IECMHC builds that capacity. The people who wrote the national competencies teach it.
