  • Recognize and understand the role of the consultant in addressing trauma in the early care and education setting

Trained early childhood mental health consultants have a wealth of knowledge about child development, family relationships, and mental health. In addition, a consultant’s perspective on child development, the impact of trauma on children and their families, trauma, intervention strategies, and community resources provides an essential support for Early Head Start and Head Start teachers, staff, and families in the specific approaches described on the following pages.
