Module 2: Building a Mental-Health Specific Strategic Plan

casual meeting

In this module, you will learn a step-by-step process for developing, implementing, and maintaining a mental health-specific strategic plan for your program. Having a component of your strategic plan that specifically focuses on mental health will provide a “roadmap” for your program that outlines the goals and objectives for your program’s mental health services and approach. However, a strategic plan must be regularly reviewed and updated to be useful. Therefore we will share ideas for making sure that your strategic plan becomes a “living document” that, when regularly used to help plan activities and gauge success, can help you lead the way to more effective mental health consultation services.

Learning Objectives

By completing this module, you will be able to:

  • Describe the six steps to developing a mental-health specific strategic plan.
  • Identify resources available for conducting a program-wide assessment of the strengths and weakness of your current mental health consultation approach.
  • Make a plan for working with your program to develop, implement and maintain a mental health strategic plan.
