Introduction
As national interest in early childhood mental health consultation (ECMHC) has grown over the last decade, so has knowledge about how to implement this collaborative intervention effectively. While there are many factors that influence the efficacy of consultation, the characteristics and practices of mental health consultants are some of the greatest predictors. Thus, it is important that individuals providing ECMHC and those who hire and/or supervise these individuals have a clear understanding of the features of an effective mental health consultant.

The purpose of this tutorial is to provide data-driven guidance on the skills, training, knowledge, and service delivery practices associated with an effective mental health consultant.

Time Commitment
This tutorial is designed to take about 30 minutes to complete, although timing may vary from person to person. We recommend completing the training in one sitting, but if this is not possible, you can easily pick up where you left off at a later time.
Materials Needed
Other than a computer, you will not need any materials to complete this training. You may want to keep a pen/pencil and paper handy to take notes, or to have ready access to a printer to print items that are of particular interest to you.
