Head Start staff are at the front lines of working with young children and families. A core feature of the Head Start philosophy is equal attention to social and emotional development as children grow healthy bodies and brains. Every person who works in an Head Start program has a role to play in promoting healthy social-emotional development—from the bus driver who greets children and families in the morning, to the family support worker who does outreach to parents and other caregivers.
