Resources for Head Start Staff

Teacher and kids

Head Start staff are at the front lines of working with young children and families. A core feature of the Head Start philosophy is equal attention to social and emotional development as children grow healthy bodies and brains. Every person who works in an Head Start program has a role to play in promoting healthy social-emotional development—from the bus driver who greets children and families in the morning, to the family support worker who does outreach to parents and other caregivers.

The products developed by the CECMHC are designed to:

  • help HS staff have practical tools to help them build positive relationships with young children and families;
  • build their capacity to implement and sustain evidence-based strategies in their Head Start programs; and
  • promote staff wellness so that they can provide support to children and families in Head Start programs.
